Built on a practitioner framework
This is not a generic policy builder. The template behind this generator was developed by Odyssey Learning Solutions with 15 years of experience in teacher development and school leadership. The framework, references and advice come from teachers, not a software company.
Reflects current guidance
Built around three key frameworks schools must address:
- Department for Education — Generative AI Product Safety Standards (updated January 2026), covering pupil wellbeing, safeguarding and tool vetting
- Joint Council for Qualifications — Guidance on the use of AI in assessments, which sets out what counts as malpractice in examined and assessed work
- Keeping Children Safe in Education — the statutory safeguarding framework all schools must follow, which this policy sits within
Your policy, your setting
The policy generated is yours. It is built from your answers — your school or trust name, your phase, your decisions on the questions a policy has to make. No two outputs are the same. It is a starting point, not a one-size-fits-all template dropped on a page. You will still need to read it, check it reflects your setting accurately, and put it through your normal approval process.
Ready for governor review, not a substitute for it
Every generated policy carries a clear notice that it is a school-specific draft produced from an Odyssey template. It must be reviewed by the relevant people in your school or trust and formally approved — by your governing body, trust board or SLT — before it becomes your policy. The generator does the drafting; the accountability stays with you.
